FAQ
How does SigenMate 2700 Ultra help me save on electricity costs with solar energy?
With traditional microinverters, any excess solar energy may be wasted when there is no load consuming it. SigenMate 2700 Ultra connects the battery on the DC side, so even when there is no load on the AC side, surplus PV energy can first be stored in the battery and then accurately released when there is demand later. This significantly improves solar energy utilization and helps reduce dependence on expensive grid electricity, directly supporting electricity cost savings.
Can SigenMate 2700 Ultra still be used and help optimize electricity costs without solar panels or solar generation?
Yes. Even without solar power, SigenMate can still help optimize electricity costs through time-of-use energy management. In areas with dynamic electricity tariffs or peak/off-peak price differences, SigenMate can charge the battery from the grid during low-price periods. During high-price periods, it can then prioritize using the lower-cost energy stored in the battery, enabling “buy low, use high” electricity cost optimization.
To use this function, enable TOU Mode or AI Mode in the app. The system will automatically track electricity price trends and perform precise scheduling to help reduce your electricity bill.
What is Sigen AI Mode and how does it optimize household energy use?
After AI Mode is enabled, the system runs in maximum self-consumption mode for the first 7 days to record and learn the user’s household energy consumption patterns. After that, it combines actual home consumption data, PV generation forecasts, weather data, and dynamic electricity tariffs to automatically create and optimize charging and discharging strategies.
This enables “buy low, sell high” energy optimization while reducing electricity costs and maximizing solar self-consumption. The system updates its optimization strategy every 60 minutes and executes energy storage operations every 15 minutes, ensuring that it continuously adapts to the latest energy conditions.
I already have a rooftop PV system. Can I still install SigenMate 2700 Ultra?
Yes. You can connect your existing inverter to SigenMate, provided that it is a plug-in device.
Does SigenMate support microinverter connection? How many microinverters are supported, and where should they be connected?
Yes, SigenMate supports microinverter connection. Due to regulatory limitations, it is recommended to connect only one microinverter, and its power should not exceed the legal limit for plug-in devices, for example 800 W.
The microinverter can be connected to any AC socket. Both Sigenergy’s own microinverters and third-party microinverters are supported.
What is the maximum charging power through the PV ports of SigenMate 2700 Ultra?
The maximum PV charging power depends on the number of battery packs connected:
- Main unit only: maximum 1.8 kW
- With 1 external battery pack: maximum 3.6 kW
- With 2 or more external battery packs: maximum 4.0 kW
What size of appliances can be connected to the AC sockets of the backup ports?
The power limit depends on whether the system is operating in grid-connected mode or off-grid backup mode.
- When SigenMate is grid-connected, the two backup ports support a combined maximum power of 3600 W. However, if you plan to connect an appliance above 2800 W to the backup output, please make sure that your home wiring can support the load and purchase a higher-power AC grid cable through official channels.
- During grid-to-off-grid switching, the maximum off-grid output power depends on the number of SigenMate units connected in parallel. One SigenMate supports up to 1400 W off-grid output power; two SigenMate units connected in parallel with the parallel cable support up to 2800 W; three SigenMate units connected in parallel with the parallel cable support up to 3600 W.
Can I install SigenMate 2700 Ultra by myself?
Whether the device can be installed by the user depends on local laws and regulations. SigenMate 2700 Ultra is a plug-and-play product. In countries where such devices are allowed to be connected to the grid, such as Germany, you may complete the physical installation and power-on process yourself.
However, grid regulations vary by country. Before purchasing or installing the device, please check the specific regulations in your country or contact our local service team.
Can SigenMate 2700 Ultra be placed on a balcony? Does it need to be moved indoors when it rains?
Yes. SigenMate has an IP66 protection rating and can withstand normal rain exposure.
How does SigenMate 2700 Ultra continue supplying power during an outage?
Once the off-grid backup function is activated, the device will automatically switch during a power outage and continue supplying power to the loads connected to the two backup ports. No additional operation is required, and the connected loads will remain running.
Will excess electricity from the SigenMate system be fed back into the grid?
This depends on whether you have installed a smart meter and which operating mode you have selected in the mySigen App. Based on your settings, the system will intelligently decide whether to prioritize storing excess energy or exporting it to the grid.
Can SigenMate 2700 Ultra be set to prevent electricity from being exported to the grid?
Yes. When used together with a smart meter, you can set the grid export power to 0 in the mySigen App. The device will then prevent any electricity from being exported to the grid.
Data Sources & Disclaimer
1 • Environmental Variables: The above estimates are based on standard meteorological data and ideal installation conditions (south-facing, no shading). Actual generation and savings may vary depending on location, seasonal weather fluctuations, and user consumption behavior.
• Electricity Price Fluctuations: The calculation assumes a baseline electricity price of €0.40/kWh. If local tariffs change or dynamic pricing is applied, actual savings will vary accordingly.
• Device Compatibility: Some AI-based features (e.g., surplus prediction, intelligent load scheduling) require specific mobile operating systems. Certain features may have compatibility limitations on some devices.
• Non-binding Statement: This calculation is intended for reference only and does not constitute a legally binding guarantee of future returns.
• To ensure compliance with the latest simplified grid-connection policies in Germany, please note:
Power Limit: To qualify for simplified grid connection (without complex approval procedures), the inverter’s grid output must be strictly limited to 800W.
PV Capacity Ratio: Although the system supports up to 4.4 kWp of PV input for improved low-light performance, local regulations may limit the total installed PV capacity for simplified procedures (currently often around 2000W). Exceeding this may require full registration as a standard PV system.
Registration Requirement: According to German law, all equipment (including PV modules, inverters, and storage systems) must be registered on the official MaStR (Marktstammdatenregister) platform to ensure compliant grid connection.
